Description

This is a nice old vintage Mandolin-Banjo made by the Weymann & Son Company of Philadelphia, PA back in the 1920s. It features a genuine skin head, Maple pot and Maple neck with Ebony Fingerboard with pearl dot inlay. It is a non-radius neck with a 1 an 2/16″ nut width. The pot diameter is about 9 and 1/2″ and holds 16 brackets. It has good comfortable action and a nice old plunky tone. It also features a Flamed Maple resonator that is easily removable for those who want to play open-back. The instrument is in good vintage condition with a few nicks and scrapes as would be expected. The frets show only minimal wear and have plenty of life remaining. There is also a small piece of the Ebony overlay missing from the headstock (see photo) but there are no structural issues. All eight of the classic Weymann metal-housed tuners work well. Basically, this is a very nice bargain-priced vintage instrument ready for its next player.
